Seva is a sanskrit word which means selfless service. It is a commonly used term to denote a service which is performed without any expectation of result or award for the person performing it. In Sikhism, seva refers to selfless service for altruistic purposes on behalf of, and for the betterment of a Community.
Seva is part of my practice as a yogi, and I have been involved with Yoga Across America for the last couple of years being the first yoga teacher to teach in schools on the East Coast. Currently, I teach weekly Baptiste Power Vinyasa yoga classes to students, teachers, and faculty in High Schools throughout Brooklyn.
I am also a supporter of the Africa Yoga Project, and served as a mentor for a couple of years to Pinto, a yoga student in Nairobi, Kenya who now teaches yoga full-time.
